The Mare
Leigh is a lanky mare with q high opinion of herself and nothing is more precious than her offspring! Obviously, she is a dedicated mother and takes her job very seriously.
As a weanling, she suffered an injury to her front pastern. In spite of the best veterinary treatment, the initial injury has resulted in the complete fusion of that joint. Therefore, Leigh is only pasture sound and her competitive career was restricted to that of a fine broodmare.
Leigh’s offspring have consistently inherited a phenomenal amount of elasticity in their gaits. Their walks are outstanding with plenty of overstep. The trot covers ground and is supple. The canter is powerful and with good rhythm. They are bright and talented for multiple disciplines with good jumping form and scope.
Her full brother, Smart WF (1995), has progressed steadily up the levels. He is currently competing at Prix St. Georges and schooling Grand Prix.
Her genetics continue onward today in our riding and breeding program through her sons and daughter: Wyncote WF (2006) and Westerleigh WF (2008). Leigh delivered a stunning filly in the spring of 2010 and we have named her Waverleigh WF. Her oldest son Woodruff WF (2004) by Wolkentanz I was sold as a yearling to a Grand Prix rider and trainer.
